Domaine des Closiers

Saumur-Champigny, Loire Valley

The Domaine des Closiers is located in Parnay, in the heart of the Saumur-Champigny appellation.

The Closiers were the winemakers who worked in the vineyards and who lived in the cave dwellings at the foot of the hill.

The estate covers 15 hectares on clay-limestone soil. The vines are 35 years old in middle age. About 95% of the vineyard is planted in Cabernet Franc to produce rich and fine wines in AOC Saumur-Champigny.

There are a few plots of Chenin which are used to produce the AOC Saumur (white wine).

To understand the typicity of their wines, you have to climb to the top of a limestone cliff overlooking the Loire. Placed on the hillside, the plots of the estate express all the richness and nobility of the terroir of Saumur-Champigny. Their plots are among the most beautiful in the appellation. They are mainly grouped in the commune of Parnay and located on the hillside.

The estate has been highlighted for 5 generations.

It obtained the High Environmental Value (HVE 3) label in 2017 thanks to the attention paid to the development of biodiversity.

The domain has now started its conversion to Organic with the assistance of Michel Chevré (technical consultant of the domain).

The Domaine des Closiers is operated by Elie Moirin. It is managed by Anatole de La Brosse with Pierre Derouin and Loïc Yven.
