Domaine du Cayron

Gigondas, Rhône Valley

The Domaine du Cayron is a family adventure. Founded in 1840, it is with passion that the know-how around the vine and the wine is transmitted within the Faraud family, from generation to generation.

Today, the fifth generation is at the helm, represented by the three Faraud sisters: Delphine, Cendrine and Roseline. The vineyard, which covers a total area of 17 hectares, is made up of a mosaic of some twenty plots spread throughout the Gigondas appellation. From the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, to the Col du Cayron at an altitude of 400 metres, via the Bois de Menge and the garrigues, it is a very complete range of the appellation's terroirs that is thus represented.

The vines are on average 40 years old, but the estate also has parcels of 70 year old vines. The work in the vineyard is done with respect for the environment with reasoned viticulture and with respect for tradition with yields of 30h/ha. The wines are aged in old tuns for at least 12 months to allow the wines to reach full maturity of the tannins and harmony of flavours. Domaine de Cayron produces about 50,000 bottles per year.
